October 31, 2017 marks 100 years since the liberation of Be'er-Sheva by the British and ANZAC forces from the Ottoman Empire in World War I. Following the victory in Be'er‑Sheva, the Balfour Declaration was declared in recognition of the Land of Israel as a national home for the Jewish people. This historic event will be noted in ceremonies and events in Be'er-Sheva.
The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Be'er-Sheva will take place at the initiative of the Be'er-Sheva Municipality, in cooperation with the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, JNF-Australia, and Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael.
